Projects experience:

2010-now

Pathway - The Pathway to Inquiry Based Science Teaching
Project description:  The project aims to facilitate the wide adoption of Inquiry-Based learning in Science Education (IBSE) en Europe and beyond. Through a large implementation phase, teachers in primary and secondar schools will be trained in IBSE methods, will be provided a unique database of tested educational scenarios linked to the curriculum and will be involved in an active community of practice.

2010-now

ProActive  - Fostering Teachers' Creativity through Game-Based Learning
Project description:  The project studies the possibilities to foster techers' creativity through Game based learning (GBL) technologies. It aims at creating learning contexts in which teachers can foster their creativity in designing their owned game-based learning scenarios, by using two games editors (Eutopia and <e-Adventure>).

2010-now

SCeTGo - Science Center to Go
Project description:  SCeTGo is a two-years European project (Lifelong Learning programme, KA3) that aims to bring comprehensive learning experiences out of the Science Centers into a school’s classroom and everyone’s home. SCeTGo goals include crosscutting the boundaries between formal (schools, universities) and informal (SCs) learning settings and stimulating motivation of students of both genders and encourage students to consider science and science-dependent vocations as careers. The project experiments with science exhibitions in miniature which are enhanced through AR technologies.

2009-2010

SoRuraLL- Rural Social Networking for Lifelong Learning
Project description: The SoRuraLL! project aims to investigate the potential for enhanced lifelong learning offered by social networking tools and platforms to those living in geographically and socio-economically disadvantaged rural areas. Experimental learning approaches will be developed and implemented, examining the potential offered by these new trends and tools for the alleviation of the disadvantage suffered by such populations in Europe through the enhancement of opportunities for effective and meaningful lifelong learning. Several technological solutions will be tried in the various sectors of lifelong learning, both formal (school, higher education, VET, adult education) and informal. The work involves preparation and implementation of pilot sites, observation of usage and pedagogical and technological evaluation.

2009-2010

EFELSE - Evaluation Framework for the Evolution of LLL Strategies in Europe
Project description: EFELSE’s overall aim is on the definition of criteria for successful Life Long Learning Strategy definition/implementation. Under this general scope the project aims to develop an understanding on the factors that impede upon progress towards change in E&T from a socio-cultural and capacity building perspective. The area of study is that of adult education as it is the area that is mostly influenced by traditional practices and attitudes towards learning. This is evident through benchmark performance levels and appears that the effects are stronger on the Southern European and New Member States National contexts. Evaluation of the current status will be done through semi-structured interviews with policy makers and implementers (lifelong learning providers) and SWOT analysis.

2007-2009

SArt - Software and Art
Project description: The focus of the project is the exploration of interesting research issues in the intersection of art and software with the objective to propose, assess, and improve methods, models, and tools for software development in art context. The goal is to address software engineering processes which are of interdisciplinary nature when meeting with arts. My research activities have been mainly in the domain of interactive installation art using systematic review and case studies (Sonic Onyx, Flyndre/ImproSculpt and Open Digital Canvas) as methodology. Data has been collected through observations, questionnaires and software metrics (OSS tools for Python and C).
2006

COSPA - Consortium for Open Source Software for the Public Administration
Project description: The project aimed to study the introduction and the use of Open Source Software in the Public Administrations within the effort of the 5th EU Framework Programme to support eGovernment. The research has two main directions – the process of assimilation of OSS in the Public Administrations and the costs of migration and ownership. My work was on data collection (for the administration unit in Skopje, Macedonia), analysis (partial analysis for several units) and report writing (mainly for Deliverable 6.1).

2004-2006

Knowledge Web (KW)
Project description: The mission of KnowledgeWeb has been to strengthen the European industry and service providers in one of the most important areas of current computer technology: Semantic Web enabled E-work and E-commerce. The project has concentrates its efforts around the outreach of this technology to industry. One of the Knowledge Web aims has been to work towards the establishment of a European Association for Semantic Web Education (EASE), which will act as the principal focus for educational activities on Semantic Web. My research within Knowledge Web has been mainly related to Virtual Institute for Semantic Web Education (EASE) and the development of a Semantic Platform for delivering/interacting with learning material about the Semantic Web. I have participated in the development of a tool for Video recordings from the KnowledgeWeb summer schools on the Semantic Web (SSSW), content capturing and post-processing of SSSW’05.

2001-2006

Mobile ELDIT
Project description: The project aim was the developing a prototype system for studying German and/or Italian languages with PDA devices. It allows offline access from windows based PDAs to the learning materials of ELDIT – an adaptable language learning platform developed at the European Academy Bozen/Bolzano (Eurac Research), Italy. The project and the developed prototype served as a research base for my PhD.
Developed with EWE, XML, DTD, CSS, XSLT.

2000
